Authentication

As a multigenerational farmer, Kurt has learned that honesty, hard work, and integrity are the foundations of any business.  Leaning on those same core values, Kurt has built Ripping Vintage Packs (RVP) into an industry wide leader for authenticating unopened products. 

Kurt’s passion for the unopened hobby motivated him to assemble an extensive collection of unopened boxes, cases and packs.  His personal collection (PC) holds numerous rare vintage packs, such as 1960’s baseball cellos, 1966 batman cellos, and many other sport and non-sport unopened.  Having inspected and reviewed countless cases, packs, and boxes, Kurt is using this generational knowledge to help others verify provenance and authenticity of their unopened collections. That knowledge and experience will be used to authenticate FASC and Authentic Unopened sport and non-sport boxes.

RVP is filling an important need in the hobby for authenticating boxes and cases. Kurt knows that buying vintage/modern unopened product can be a minefield. With fraudulent packs, cards, and slabs throughout the market, customers are in need of expert opinions from professional hobbyist like Kurt. Kurt has reviewed and inspected countless unopened, (sport and non-sport), vintage/modern cases, packs and boxes. Every product that gets the RVP’s sticker and hologram designation will be reviewed and thoroughly inspected by Kurt. The RVP seal of approval is one of the highest expert opinions that is available for vintage/modern wax cases.  RVP is also known for live breaks, retail selling via website, live customer support, buying collections and assisting other collectors with acquisitions and liquidations.
 

RVP OFFERS THE FOLLOWING AUTHENTICATION SERVICES

FASC (From a Sealed Case):  these are boxes taken directly from a sealed case in our possession that we have verified as sealed and undisturbed.  A photo of the original case and boxes will be preserved digitally on our website under the “gallery” tab. 
FASC:  Final sale:  these are boxes taken directly from a sealed case in our possession that we have verified as sealed and undisturbed.  However, the outside of the case was noted as Final Sale from the Topps factory.  A photo of the original case and boxes will be preserved digitally on our website under the “gallery” tab. 
Tape Intact:  these are boxes and/or sets that we have verified the tape is undisturbed, and therefore, the contents withing that box should be original and untouched
Authentic Unopened:  also known as non-fasc: These are boxes that are not removed directly from a sealed case ourselves.  We verify that the packs residing within the box are authentic, and wrap the box as authentic unopened. 
 

FEE STRUCTURE (CUSTOMER IS RESONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING COST TO AND FROM RVP)

RVP has the capability of receiving any major carrier for shipment: USPS, UPS, FEDEX, along with large freight pallet shipments. Please email Kurt (info@rippingvintagepacks.com) ahead of time and we will help you coordinate your shipment to us.
  
FASC and FASC Final Sale:  Wrapping fee will be $6 a box plus shipping. Every large wax or cello case will have a minimum $50 inspection charge regardless if deemed factory sealed or not. Rack cases will have a minimum of a $15 inspection charge regardless if deemed factory sealed or not.  The inspection charge will go towards the wrapping fee if the case is deemed factory sealed. For example a 20 box 1989 Donruss wax case you will be charged the $50 min inspection charge, and if the case is deemed factory sealed you will only be charged another $50. So the total would be $6 a box or $100.
Tape Intact:  $6/box plus shipping.

For retail value of boxes 0-$150 fee is $6 per box
For retail value of boxes $151-$300 fee is $12 per box
For retail value of boxes $301-$500 fee is $20 per box
For retail value of boxes $501-$1000 fee is $35 per box
For retail value of boxes $1,001 to $2,000 fee is $70 per box
For retail value of boxes $2,001-$3,000 fee is $135.00 per box

UNOPENED AUTHENTICATION TERMS & CONDITIONS 

1. 1. Please note there are collation aberrations and inconsistencies across all brands of manufactured sport and non-sport cards. Quality control by these manufacturers was not always prevalent. RVP authentication reviews the authenticity of the product, and does not provide any opinion on the contents or condition of whom and/or what is in the individual unopened packs. RVP’s authentication involves their professional opinion, which is subjective, and based on decades of experience.  RVP provides no warranty or representation, and shall have no liability whatsoever, to Customer for the determination made for any submitted item.  Nor shall it have any warranty or any liability whatsoever to customer for any fraud committed on its items.
2. 2. Please prepare and ship your product with care and protection. We will do the same in return shipping. RVP does not take responsibility for customers inability to ship their product with care and diligence.
3. 3. For FASC products, RVP is specializing modern era (1980-present) cases. For authentic unopened product, we cover most eras.  All other product should be sourced to an appropriate expert authenticator
4. 4. All FASC we authenticate will be digitally archived in our database. Those files can be accessed via the serial # on the hologram sticker. If you are interested in this digital info, please visit our gallery page on our website.
5. 5. For boxes wrapped authentic unopened, we verify the packs residing within the box are authenticate.  Please note we do not determine if the packs are original to that box, as only FASC can guarantee that fact.  If multiple packs are in poor conditions, or show excessive wear, we will not authenticate that box.  AS noted above, we do not inspect the condition or quality of the card residing within aforementioned packs. 
6. 6. If packs within a particular FASC box show excessive mildew or moisture damage, RVP will note it on the label.  If FASC boxes show excessive damage due to moisture or box crunching, RVP will note it on the label.
7. 7. Payment for RVP authentication services constitutes your knowledge of these terms and conditions.
8. 8. RVP reserves the right to update our pricing and terms and conditions at any time.
9. 9. RVP does not authenticate 1991 Topps Desert Shield Boxes.
10. 10. RVP will exercise reasonable care in handling items submitted for authentication.  If RVP determines that Customer’s item was lost or damaged while in RVP’s possession, Customer will be compensated based upon the fair market value of the item as determined by RVP’s procedures. The declared value you provided with this submission is for estimating the insurance coverage only, and the fair market value of the item may be less than your declared value. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE DECLARED VALUE OF THE ITEM. Such compensation shall be Customer’s exclusive remedy for any loss or damage.
11. 11. The maximum aggregate liability that RVP shall have to customer, or any third party for whom the customer may be acting, arising from any cause, act, omission or other circumstance, shall in no event exceed the authentication charges for the authentication services rendered by RVP with respect to the items submitted for authentication.  In no event shall RVP, or any of its respective employee, officers and directors, be liable to customer or any other party for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages. 
12. 12. This Agreement is in effect in the State of Iowa, and will be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of that State, without regard to conflicts of laws principles. The parties hereby consent to personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts sitting in Clay County, Iowa, with respect to any legal action to enforce the terms and conditions of this Agreement, or otherwise arising under or with respect to this Agreement, and agree that those courts shall be the exclusive venue for the bringing of such action. Customer and RVP agrees that the prevailing party shall be entitled to an award of its reasonable attorney’s fees, costs and expenses.
13. 13. The terms and provisions in this Agreement and the Customer Agreement, if applicable, constitute the entire agreement of RVP and Customer.
